Privacy & data

We don't store your child's records.

Many platforms quietly accumulate a database of every child who passes through. We don't. Here's exactly what IEPTeam holds, what we don't, and what happens to your documents.

What happens when you upload an IEP.

When you use the free IEP review tool, we take the document only as long as it takes to generate your report — typically under a minute. The document is then discarded. We don't archive it, we don't reuse it, and we don't keep a copy "for your records."

The report is yours — saved to your device or, if you choose, your account dashboard.

What we do hold on our servers.

Just enough to make the platform work: your account email, your state, the metadata for cases you create (deadlines, milestone tags, which advocate you're working with), and messages between you and your advocate. We do not keep IEPs, evaluations, or any document containing identifiable information about your child.

Your advocate is independent.

Advocates listed on IEPTeam are independent practitioners — not IEPTeam employees. When you work with an advocate through the platform, you're entering into a relationship with that person, not with IEPTeam. They handle their own files and notes about your case according to their own practice.

What you can ask us to delete.

Anything we hold about you, at any time. Email privacy@iepteam.org and we'll remove your account and the metadata associated with it.

Where we're headed.

We're building toward a model where your sensitive documents live in your own cloud storage (like Google Drive) and the platform simply connects to display them — never copying. That's a future phase. For now, our promise is the simpler one: documents are processed and discarded.
